Member of the Register of Sign Language Interpreters (ID No. 1006321)
Regardless of how a booking is confirmed (via text, email, over the phone or verbally) by using my services you are agreeing to my terms and conditions and a contractual agreement is immediately entered into.
Working Practice
– The Interpreter shall follow the NRCPD’s Code of Conduct (https://www.nrcpd.org.uk/code-of-conduct)
– If an assignment is expected to have continuous interpreting for more than one hour, a co-worker may be required and will be negotiated with the agency/client.
– Breaks must be provided throughout the assignment. The length and intensity of the breaks will be adaptable to each assignment. The usual practice would be 5minutes to every 30minutes. In the case of co-working, this will not be necessary.
-Should the client not turn up, a waiting period of 20-40minutes will be respected. (A cancellation fee would then apply).
-Recordings or photographs of the interpreter must not be made without prior agreement.
– The Interpreter shall work to the best of his ability, knowledge and belief.
– If an assignment is significantly different to what is initially described or it is felt that to carry out an assignment would be detrimental to either party, all parties involved must be informed immediately.
-The client shall provide the Interpreter with any relevant information and preparatory materials prior to the assignment.
Payment
– All fees will be negotiated and confirmed before the assignment takes place. Deductions of Income Tax and National Insurance are the responsibility of the Interpreter only.
– Fees shall be charged as either a full day or a half day. Further work shall be paid at an agreed hourly rate. Travel, sustenance and accommodation if required will be negotiated prior to the assignment.
– All fees shall be paid in full no later than 28 days following receipt of the invoice. Upon late payment, a 10% charge will be added to the original fee every week the invoice is overdue.
– Fees would be subject to negotiation if falling outside of standard hours[1]
Cancellation
If cancelled with more than 14days notice, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled with 8 – 14days notice, 50% of the fee will be charged.
If cancelled within 7days the full fee will be charged.
Under absolutely no circumstances are postponed or delayed assignments accepted under this or interpreted as the same as this assignment agreement. Fees shall not be wavered for postponed or delayed assignments. In the event of the interpreter being available to undertake the assignment at a later date, this shall constitute a new and separate engagement. In the event of the particulars of an interpreting assignment being changed (EG the venue, nature or participants etc) after an agreement has been reached, the interpreter reserves the right to withdraw.
If it is the Interpreter who has to cancel, the agency and client will be informed as soon as possible. The Interpreter will do their best to find a suitable replacement at the discretion of the client. The assignment will then be handed over with the substitute on the same terms.
Complaints
The interpreter requests complaints must be put forward within one month of the assignment, if parties are unable to resolve things, it will be passed onto the necessary authorities (https://www.nrcpd.org.uk/concerns-and-complaints)
